Did you ever think that you would see a Manitoba professional walleye tournament in July, or even better, with no slot limit? Well here it is! The Lac Du Bonnet Walleye Classic 2008 was so successful, we are doing it again in 2009!
Over $30,000 in cash and prizes and an $8,000 1st prize
This is a ZERO FISH MORTALITY! All fish are weighed in the boat and then released - all with-in seconds of being caught. This means that no fish will be carried around in a live well or taken to a weigh-in site. Each boat is assigned a Spotter who accompanies the 2 person Pro team. When a walleye is caught, the fish is put into a special weigh sack by the Spotter, weighed and then recorded. At the end of the day, the team confirms their top 5 heaviest fish and turns the weigh sheet into the tournament officials. The Spotters will be transferred to another team the next day and the weigh-in continues with their new Pros. The proceeds went towards "Reel Solutions for Youth" where Pros shared their fishing knowledge with local youths. They were invited to a day at the Lac Du Bonnet town dock for a fishing seminar by Donnie Lamont and a mini-tournament. Afterwards, they got to keep the rod and reel that they were using!
